Max Spray (Life is Beautiful) lithograph

This work is amongst the most iconic images to come from Mr. Brainwash ; the jolly Frenchman seen in Banksy’s “Exit through the Gift Shop” . This work, entitled; ”Max Spray” is a prime example of the type of of work that shot MBW to the forefront of the contemporary/ street art world, seemingly, overnight. The work is reminiscent of ads seen for Maxxell audio equipment in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s. In these ads, the brand’s mascot Max is blown away (literally and physically) by the sound coming from Maxell’s audio equipment. In this lithograph, the seated man is being blasted by a can of red spray paint, which has the exterior of a Campbells soup can. This work bears all of the stylistic trademarks that have made Thierry Guetta (Mr. Brainwash) one of the biggest names in contemporary art in the 21st century.
