In late 2022, as Art Miami was set to launch; Damien Hirst and the enigmatic street artist Space Invader surprised the art world with the release of a collection of digital prints, based on various vintage Invader images, mounted to Dibond and Diasec. The works were released as a timed edition over two weeks: rumors, guesses and even bets swirled as to the size these editions would subsequently be; to the chagrin of those who did not purchase any (and the joy of those who did, the edition sizes were relatively low and these editions now bring 300%-400% of their initial cost via the secondary market. Fast forward to 2024; Space Invader announces what will become, in many collector's minds, the culmination of decades of tireless, anonymous work: "INVADER; SPACE STATION" opened in a partially completed midrise building in Paris, France to rave reviews from critics and collectors alike.
