Unveiled in 2024 at Damien Hirst’s Newport Street Gallery in London and at HENI Gallery, The Black Paintings mark one of the most ambitious chapters in Lang’s career. Known for blending Americana, motorcycle counterculture, and memento mori imagery, Lang pushes further here into a raw meditation on mortality, myth, and transcendence. Skeleton riders, apocalyptic visions, and spectral warriors inhabit vast, dark landscapes, situating Lang in dialogue with the history of painting while retaining his instantly recognizable visual language.
