Twiggy in Warhol Soup Can Dress (Original Canvas painting)
APC ART IS DELIGHTED TO OFFER OUR GLOBAL CLIENT BASE, THIS EARLY, ICONIC ALEC MONOPOLY ORIGINAL WORK ON CANVAS. THESE EARLY PAINTINGS HAVE BECOME EXTREMELY DESIRABLE. THIS WORK WAS EXECUTED IN EARLY 2010 AND IS PURPORTED TO BE ALEC’S FIRST PORTRAIT OF TWIGGY. The subject is seen wearing Andy Warhols famous “Campbell’s Soup Dress. For those not familiar with Warhol’s “Soup Dresses;” Warhol designed a line of dresses featuring various everyday items that featured iconic branding. The dresses were made mostly of paper and prior to the runway show, Twiggy (the most famous runway model of that era) was smoking a cigarette and the dress caught fire, causing the entire event to be cancelled. The painting has been stretched onto a maple wood support and it is now ready to be framed. The work is signed en verso (on the back) “Alec 10” . This is a rare example of an early Monopoly work.
