Description AISLink Personal AIS MOB Beacon Overboard situations can be made a little less terrible using the Automatic Identification System (AIS) Man Overboard Beacon (MOB). Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and GPS technologies are included into the AISLink, allowing you to request help promptly when you need it. AISLink delivers an alarm message to all local vessels with an AIS receiver and/or AIS-enabled plotter within seconds, unlike a personal locating beacon, which sends an alert message to orbiting search and rescue satellites. In addition, you can activate the DSC alarm on your vessel's VHF radio to alert first responders to the situation. The AISLink MOB personal AIS locating beacon (MOB) activates instantly when the lifejacket is inflated, transmitting an initial warning to all AIS receivers and plotters in the area within 15 seconds. Up to 5 miles distant, positioning and MOB emergency notifications are issued to vessels, alerting them to your emergency. The quickness with which a visual sighting of a man overboard might be lost, even in calm seas, is alarming. The AISLink MOB's inbuilt GPS pinpoints an accurate location quickly and communicates it to all surrounding AIS-equipped vessels as part of the AIS alert message. The DSC alarm on your vessel's VHF can also be activated by the AISLink MOB to alert your crew to an emergency. All AIS receivers and AIS-enabled plotters within a 5-mile radius (depending on conditions) are alerted, and an incorporated high-intensity strobe light aids in accurate locating even in low light. The high-impact case can withstand a 20-meter plunge into water, and the powerful lithium metal batteries can run for up to 24 hours. Compatibility It's worth noting that the MOB transmission laws apply to most modern AIS plotters and DSC VHF equipment. However, you should double-check compatibility with the device's manufacturer. Individual nation restrictions may determine how DSC capability is implemented – or whether it is even available.
