UNDERSTANDING IRIDIUM SBD SERVICE Iridium SBD is ideal for remote weather stations, ocean drifters and buoys, monitoring of oil pipelines, controlling and reporting on equipment in the middle of nowhere. For basic telemetry and command/control applications where mobile signals don't go. Iridium SBD is designed to move small packets of data, a few hundred bytes, from the middle of nowhere. If you're looking to send photos, videos or large files, Iridium SBD is not recommended for you. When you send or receive small packets of data (hundreds of bytes) in difficult geographic areas, Iridium SBD may solve your problem. IRIDIUM SHORT DATA BURST SIZE Iridium SBD, a data service, enables equipment and applications to send and receive short data transactions of less than 2 KB in periodic time intervals efficiently. It is ideal for remote monitoring applications used for asset tracking, remote telemetry, and pipeline monitoring. The maximum length of Mobile-Originated SBD message is 1,960 bytes, the maximum for Mobile-Terminated SBD messages is 1,890 bytes. Global network latency for the delivery of messages ranges from 5 seconds for short messages to 20 seconds for longer ones. The maximum length of a MO-SBD message is 1960 bytes. The maximum length of a MT-SBD message is 1890 bytes. Global network transmit latency for delivery of messages ranges from 5 seconds for messages of 70 bytes to approximately 20 seconds for maximum length messages. (Additional latency may occur across the Internet) Mobile Termination Activation  $280 Include Geo-Data  FREE Geo-Data is the last known location (latitude and longitude) of the device. When this option is enabled Geo-Data is included in the message content. By default it is enabled for all the delivery destinations. The SBD GEO data determined by the Iridium satellite network can be included with the message if you are not sending GPS data in the SBD message already. (accurate to about 15 miles) Ring Alerts  FREE The Iridium Gateway will send a 'Ring Alert' to the Transceiver when a Mobile Terminated SBD (MT-SBD) message has been queued at the Iridium SBD Gateway. Your mobile application can then decide whether to retrieve the MT-SBD data message at that time or later. MO ACK - Mobile Originated Acknowledgement  FREE MO ACK setting is used in conjunction with a Direct IP Delivery Destination. The default setting is off. When checked on, the Gateway expects to receive an acknowledgement from the receiving server that it has received the message. If the Gateway does not receive an acknowledgement, it will attempt to re-deliver the message for 12 hours.
