Coverage Area: The Iridium Northern Lights coverage area includes Canada and Alaska plus 12 nautical miles into coastal waters. Each Iridium Northern Lights voucher is valid for up to 6 months from time of activation or recharge date.  The expiration date of your SIM card begins when the card is activated or refilled. SIM Card can be recharged with additional airtime prior to expiry by purchasing an additional Iridium Northern Lights voucher. You retain your original Iridium phone number. Expiry dates are not cumulative and balance will expire 6 months from the date the card is recharged unless another recharge is completed prior to the expiry date. Eavesdropping on a satellite phone is virtually impossible since the signal travels vertically towards the sky. They would have to have an airplane full of equipment inline of sight between you and the satellite. However, they would still have to decrypt the signal which is encoded with up-to 256 Bit AES Encryption, the same as the DOD uses for their own communications. Compared to your cell phones where the signal travels horizontally towards the cellular towers and through this transmission your signal is able to be intercepted and there is no encryption.  Q: Am I Charged For Incoming Calls and Text To My Iridium Satellite Phone?  A: No, direct dialed incoming calls and text are free on any Iridium service plan you choose.
