Strains from a Dulcimore by Emma Bell Miles

Emma Bell Miles (1879-1919) was a poet, naturalist, artist, writer, and feminist who lived a difficult life on Signal Mountain above Chattanooga, but contributed mightily.  She wrote the first comprehensive study of mountain people as having a distinct culture, THE SPIRIT OF THE MOUNTAINS, published in 1905. This collection of poems is delightful, profound, and endearing.
