The prints are small character profiles of Augustus Snodgrass, A young, innocuous fellow, he poses as the poet of the Pickwick Club; Mrs. Bardell, Mr. Pickwick's landlady, she assumes he has proposed to her and sues for breach of promise. Thrown in jail because she cannot pay her legal fees, Mr. Pickwick has her released; and Polly (Richards) Little Paul Dombey's nurse. She is dismissed when she takes Paul to visit her family in a poorer section of London. She is the mother of Rob the Grinder who becomes a minor villain in the story. This illustrations were originally made by Hablot Knight Browne, yet these specific pieces are reprints taken from a published edition of the novel.
