Special blend of carbonate salts for African cichlids Raises pH and KH (carbonate hardness) Economical dry powder formula Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Buffer is a special blend of carbonate salts formulated to replicate the natural habitat of African cichlids by increasing KH (buffering capacity), alkalinity, and pH. When used as directed, Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Buffer will maintain a pH of 7.8–8.4 for Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria cichlids and a pH of 9.0–9.4 for Lake Tanganyika cichlids.  For best results, use in combination with Fritz Rift Lake Cichlid Salt to raise the GH (or general hardness). Start with the following dosage for every 10 U.S. gallons (37.85 liters) of water:— Lake Tanganyika: Use 5 g (1 tsp)— Malawi: Use 2.5 g (1/2 tsp)— Victoria: Use 2.5 g (1/2 tsp) Use the amount indicated for the lake you are wanting to simulate, and mix the salt in a separate container of dechlorinated water before adding it to the aquarium.
