Extra Dark Sea Grey A high-quality semi-gloss MAP Extra Dark Sea Grey acrylic or enamel paint for scale models and historical miniatures. MAP Extra Dark Sea Grey Color Guide: MAP Extra Dark Sea Grey is a dark bluish-gray color developed mainly for use in Navy aircraft camouflage. Extra Dark Sea Grey, along with Dark Slate Grey was used in the Temperate Sea Scheme, applied to RAF Coastal Command and FAA aircraft between 1939-1945. The lower surfaces under this scheme were to be painted Sky Grey or Sky. Extra Dark Sea Grey was also used to camouflage low-altitude RAF reconnaissance aircraft during World War II. This camouflage, in addition to Extra Dark Sea Grey, also included Extra Dark Sea Green for the upper surfaces and PRU Mauve or Deep Sky for the undersides. Beginning in September 1944, Extra Dark Sea Grey became the single topside color of RAF Coastal Command aircraft following AMO A.864/44.
