DuPont 71-009 Dark Earth Color Guide: 71-009 Dark Earth is a WWII aircraft camouflage color developed by DuPont for use on U.S. aircraft delivered to the UK and painted to British camouflage standards. 71-009 Dark Earth was the DuPont counterpart to the Dark Earth color used in the UK. 71-009 Dark Earth was used in the Temperate Land camouflage scheme. Along with 71-009 Dark Earth, this scheme called for 71-013 Dark Green, and the undersides were to be painted 71-021 Sky. 71-009 was a lighter version of the Dark Earth color that was used primarily at the beginning of World War II.
