The term relief refers to a sculptural method in which the sculpted pieces are bonded to a solid background of the same material. Relief is from the Latin verb relevo, to raise. To create a sculpture in relief, the artist gives the impression that the sculpted material has been raised above the background plane. When cosidering interior styling and wall decoration, relief art is a unique artform, adding intricacy and a detailed design to any wall.
