Motoyuki Tonoike Rice Bowl 01
Motoyuki's creations reflect a deep appreciation for the unique interaction between clay and glaze, which he finds fascinating. The tactile experience of his work evokes the sensation of rough, earthy clay combined with the subtle shine of pebbles, creating a textured, almost organic feel. His pieces are celebrated for their complex, layered glazes and their ability to capture the beauty of raw, natural materials in a contemporary form. While the piece is glazed, the coarse clay may absorb food colors and odors more readily during the first few uses. It is recommended to start with light-colored or mildly scented foods. If food is left in the cup for a long period, colors and odors may penetrate the crackle glaze. To prevent this, it is recommended to apply a "sealant" treatment before use. As each piece is handmade, slight variations in color, shape, and size may occur compared to the photographs.
