Equus Lamp

This elegant ceramic table lamp "character" is designed in what artist Kassandra Thatcher calls "static gesture": still form with movement and personality. Handmade at every stage in LA, The Equus Lamp stands at 20 inches high and is crafted from a hollow, textured stone base with a rice paper shade that warms up light and distributes it beautifully in any space.   The base is created from coils rather than a single solid block of clay and is finished with soft Umber leather at the bottom. Each of Kassandra's pieces are inherently unique, as they are made by hand and finished with a hand-brushed glaze. "My work is a practice in expanding and contracting my own understanding of our relationship to things and its complexity," Thatcher says.   This piece is made to order.
