Mealworms are a great source of protein for a large number of reptiles, amphibians, and birds. Reptiles enjoy eating them as part of a balanced diet. Mealworms are the larva form of the darkling beetle and stage 2 of a 4 stage life cycle - egg, larva (mealworm), pupa, and beetle. Mealworms will stay in their larva stage for months if kept between 43-50 degrees.
