The Norwegian shirt (aka 'Norgie' or 'Norgy') is a much loved garment of the British Army. If you hadn't guessed already, the Norgie originated from Norway, where the winters are cold and tough hence the quality clothing system. A Norgie is a long-sleeve top which is worn as a base or middle layer in cold and dry conditions. The interior side is made of a terry toweling fabric for absorbing cool sweat off your skin and keeping you warm during low-intensity activities. Norgies feature a high collar which can be zipped to the top in extreme cold weather. The cuffs can be buttoned tight or left loose and rolled up for casual wear.
