These combat trousers made their way into The National People's Army of East Germany for over 30 years. Starting in 1968, they were manufactured and issued up until 1990. The Rain Camo pattern (Strichmuster) was influenced by WW2 German designs such as Splittermuster and Sumpftarn. "Rain" refers to the camouflage pattern, these are not waterproof trousers.  Due to the range in manufacture, have a mix of models. Some may have no knee reinforcement, square reinforcement or polygonal reinforcement, seat reinforcement and some may have shrouded cargo buttons and others not. These will be picked at random.Issued to the NVA (Nationale Volksarmee) as 'summer' trousers, though the fabric remains moderately heavy weight. The name is used to differentiate these from the winter trousers which may have been insulated. These trousers feature two slash pockets and cargo pockets, all with button closures to secure in any contents. Around the inside of the partially elasticated waist are metal D-rings
