Westward Rise
This piece is inspired by the hills and mountains you see driving along Highway 280 in Northern California—the way they stretch across the horizon, shifting in color as the light changes. There’s something both familiar and breathtaking about that view, and I wanted to capture that feeling here. Layers of blues, greens, and earth tones come together to reflect the landscape, with stitched threads adding movement and texture—like the quiet energy of the land. The sewn details bring a sense of depth, almost like tracing the curves of the hills with your fingertips. This 14x11 original sewn abstract art is created on unstretched canvas, using a variety of threads to add dimension and detail. It’s a love letter to a place that always makes me pause and take it all in.
