Panama,  circa  1000 to 1500  AD.    The Frog has a classic body, cast with large hind flippers and bulbous eyes. From the mouth emanate two side facing saurian heads back to back, conveying a mythological significance. Dimension: Length 2-3/4 inches; 22k gold tested;  weight including pin frame: 27.2 dwt. (42.3 gms) XRF elemental analysis shows it is made of 22.1K gold (92.13% Au) with 7.79% copper , which is consistent with Pre-Columbian metallurgy.  The ornamental piece displays characteristic Pre-Columbian goldworking features: The intricate scrollwork and stylized design is typical of Pre-Columbian artistic traditionsThe artifact appears to be a personal adornment piece, which was one of the primary uses of gold in Pre-Columbian cultures.
