West Mexico, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250 Sizeable pottery seated male figure holding a large scalloped rim bowl in his arms, balanced on his raised knees, his head is turned to the left, and is depicted with an applied thick muti-strand hairdo. He has nodded shoulders and wears triple ring earrings. Grayish-tan slip ground with red-brown painted highlights. Size: 12-1/2”H. x 7-1/2”W. + custom hardwood base. Provenance: Estate of Rachelle M. Miller Collection, Chicago, active in the 1960’s and very early 1970’s from various dealers.
