Peru, circa 400 to 600 AD. Mold made in the form of a conch shell, painted cream with red detailing. Stirrup spout atop. The ancient Moche placed great emphasis on their relationship with the sea as a powerful destructive force but also as a giver of sustenance and life. Size: 8-1/2 inches H. Top of the spout has minor chips/roughness. Ex. German Collection with inventory number underneath (069205). Thermoluminescence certificate from Laboratory Ralf Kotalla accompanies (samples estimated to be 1350 years old (+/- 20%).
