West Mexico, Ixlan Del Rio, Ca. 200 BC to 300 AD. A lovely pair of figures, representing the village male and female ancestors, each with matching ochre and white, and black negative resist painted detail over the red-brown ground. Male is extremely important as he is of high rank, holding a scepter, legs crossed and wears headdress, earcips and loin cloth. She holds a bowl, is bare breasted and wears a skirt and similar adornment. Both are highly ornate and have light paint wear, arms repaired and minor losses.   Sizes:  9-1/2 inches H. ea.
