Consaca Narino, Capuli Complex, Ca. 600 to 1000 AD. Large cast and hammered cluster grouping with curled branches and silhouetted monkeys seated atop each one to wither side. Width ea. 4-3/8 inches (11.11 cm); Wide; approx 18k karat gold; 18.61 dwt. 30g XRF elemental analysis of these ornaments shows a composition of 80.07% gold, 11.10% silver, 5.29% copper, and 3.54% iron, classifying it as 19.2K gold. This composition is characteristic of a gold-copper alloy commonly used in pre-Columbian Colombian goldwork.
