Peru, Moche Phase IV, Ca. 450 to 550 A.D. Quality vase molded in the form of a composite deity with human body surmounted by a strong and handsome animal head with protruding ears, well defined almond eyes and fine incised teeth in open mouth. Overall painted in overall cream with red defining the garments of the figure. Size: 9 inches H. Provenance: Ex collection Alvin M Cohen, Bethesda, MD, Acquired from a NY gallery in 1979.
