Thailand Sukhothai Period, Circa 14th to 16th Century AD Cast with a serene facial expression, tightly curled hair nodes, heavily laden meditative eyes, thin aquiline nose and fleshy outlined lips. Overall mottled rich reddish-brown surface patina, and some remaining black painted highlighted hairdo.Size 8 in. (20.3 cm.) H + custom mount. Good excavated condition with losses to ears, finial and some hair nodes on sides. From an extremely early and not too often seen period of Thai art! Provenance: The collection of Jane and Jack Weprin, NYC. Acquired 1970’s - 1991, then by descent to family.
