"Morning on the river"

"I like to do an occasional wildlife piece and this one caught my eye. I like how the fish pops amid the distorted background and foreground. This was a challenging piece for me trying to get all of the reflections and colors right to give it a ‘wet’ look. Between sessions I propped the piece up about 4 feet away from my bunk scrutinizing it against the reference picture to see where I need to touch up and plan my next session. When looking at a partially finished painting, I tend to question my talent and whether or not I am capable of making my subject look real - this was no different.  In the end I am pleased with the finished painting and hope someone will appreciate it.
