Intended for Grades 3+ Aquarium Art Project: Habitats, Ocean/River, Geography, Water Cycle, Environment Students will experience a true arts-integrated STEAM lesson, which connects art, science (fish species and habitats), social studies (geography), and language arts (summarizing and writing). Students will summarize important facts about their fish from a paragraph to create an informational display to accompany their artwork, create an aquarium habitat based on what they learn about their fish’s particular environment (freshwater vs. saltwater), and include a form of camouflage in their relief sculpture. (used to defend against predators). Students will also learn what kinetic art is (moving art) and learn what a relief sculpture is (a 3-D piece of artwork which is not meant to be viewed from all sides).
