Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey 18 Years Old 45% ALC/VOL (90 Proof) - Bottled SUMMER 2020 - Product of Kentucky The famed Sazerac Coffee House was founded in 1850 at 13 Exchange Alley, New Orleans, Louisiana. Although styled a Coffee House, it was, in fact, a saloon (in those days saloons did not go by such crude designations). The Sazerac Coffee House soon gained fame as the home of the Sazerac, America's First Cocktail. The house would buy straight rye whiskey from Kentucky and ship it to New Orleans on flatboats, the preferred method of transport. Antoine Amedie Peychaud, the credited inventor of the Sazerac, would add to the rye whiskey his proprietary Peychaud's Bitters, Herbsaint Absinthe Liqueur and a lump of sugar... and so was born the classic Sazerac Cocktail. The family-owned Sazerac Company has since become the proud owner of the original Kentucky distillery that supplied that rye whiskey to the Sazerac Coffee House, and is, after a 110-year absence, pleased to bring you Saze
