Notes from the Winemaker:Bahierra is a 0.45 Has vineyard with more than 100 years of history. It is located on a tiny slope in Villaseca-Fonzaleche in the Monte Obarenes zone of Rioja Alta. The vineyard is barely capable of yielding 1K kg. It is a field blend of Tempranillio, Garnacha and some other varieties including Miguel de Arco, Calagrano, Viura and others unknown. Ratings & Reviews 93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:"Their first single-vineyard red, the 2016 Bahierra, comes from an extremely old plot in Fonzaleche close to Sajazarra on sandstone soils planted to a field blend of mainly Tempranillo with other reds and even whites (5% to 10%). This is a very special vineyard for them. It's subtle and reticent. They used some stems for the fermentation in open-top, 500-liter oak barrels, with foot treading and natural yeasts.
