Arts by Dylan: King County Canvas
This Photograph was taken in the state of Washington. Seattle Washington is in King County named after Martin Luther King Jr. formerly it was named King County after someone else less important former Vice President to Franklin Pierce an Alabamian and slave owner named William Rufus King. In 1986 a motion was made to change the name of the county in honor Martin Luther King Jr. The State of Washington changed the charter of King County to reflect the name change about 20 years later in 2005. This was not necessarily a "name change" for the sake of political correctness. But it was a change of the reason why something was named the way it was and a decision to change the reason and keep the same name. That might be a lesson people can learn in 2021. Because even though nobody is perfect there is always good that people have done and a reason why something was named after them in the first place. Photographer: Dylan Carpowich
