This piece is a giclee reproduction of a botanical monotype created by an ecoprinting process. The watercolor paper was soaked in an alum mordant, and steamed with a variety of leaves and flowers. While I love painting with oils and cold wax medium, recently, I have become intrigued with collage and printing techniques. I thoroughly enjoy printing my own gelli-plate papers and combining them with Japanese papers, photographs, digital images, dried flowers, and text. More recently, I have been exploring eco printing techniques using natural dyes to imprint leaves and flowers onto paper. Creating engaging compositions and balancing shapes, colors, and textures using a variety of techniques is an immensely joyful and rewarding process!
