I started painting while I was in college as an escape from social and economic difficulties. I painted to release my emotions, to find answers, and to ground myself. I think I still paint for a lot of the same reasons today. My process is intuitive and spontaneous at times but done with deliberate intent. It takes me time to reflect on what I feel before I even touch a canvas. Once I do, I am driven to fully explore my feelings and discover something new about myself. I primarily use acrylic in my painting and they manifest mostly in abstract form. Over the past few years I have been working on a series of paintings that I call “Chaos & Control: My Halves”.
