Minerve Aubusson Rug

Minerve is inspired by neoclassical Aubusson carpets of the French Empire and Directoire periods. A pale golden-beige field is surrounded by a laurel leaf frame that combines two sides of a rectangle with two half-circles. Inside are cornucopias and classic Roman hunting gear arranged around a large elongated oval medallion which itself contains two blue circular medallions with classical Roman hunting gear. A pale golden-beige border with a tone on tone damask floral is overlaid with Della Robbia floral wreaths in rose, lilac, blue, yellow, tan, teal, sage-green and teal. Four corners containing blue cartouches with floral arrangements and an outside border band of circular acanthus rosettes completes this magnificent and grand rug. Handmade with ancient French dyeing and weaving methods, this rug has thousands of subtle color shades which make it go with many fabrics.
