Self-Love is Not Selfish

Over the course of a long history in the western world, a belief has developed that “Self Love” is the equivalent of “selfishness” and that those who love themselves “too much” are thoughtless “takers” while those who willingly sacrifice their needs or desires for others are more worthy of love and respect. Sadly, this is a misunderstanding and indeed, a skewing of the truth. It is time for humanity to come to understand the distinction between self-love and selfishness. So let us begin this book by clarifying the difference between the two.
