Indigo Dyed Scrunchies

From our Zero Waste "Waste Not, Want Not" accessory collection, this cotton scrunchie was made from fabric remnants from our cutting room floor then hand dyed by yours truly. MordantAluminum Acetate (Alum) helps brighten colors on fibers. Mordanting is crucial in natural dyeing to enhance light and wash fastness. It creates a bond between the fiber and dye molecule and enables natural dyes to last longer and slows down fading. While I mordant all of our naturally dyed garments, it is best to hand wash or light cycle wash in cool/lukewarm water and use a gentle washing detergent without any harsh chemicals and avoid bleach.
