On the Osage shield, it is covered by symbols of peace, the olive branch (representing the European Americans) and the Plains-style ceremonial pipe (representing the Native Americans.) Six brown crosses across the shield are the Native Americans symbol for the stars. The blue field envokes devotion while the posture of the shield with peace symbols represents a defensive or protective stance while showing love of peace by it's united people.
