Trumpet Patent Tee

ADULT TEE INSPIRED BY SCIENCE Instruments similar to trumpets have been used since 1500 BC as signaling devices for hunting or war. In the late 1300's they began to be used as musical instruments. The pitch of the trumpet is controlled by the vibration of the lips and by pressing the valves to change the length of brass tubing. The longer the brass tubing, the more volume of air that is vibrating resulting in a lower pitch. Shorter lengths produce high pitches. In a future lesson, Professor Miles Davis will teach us more on this topic.This tee pictures a patent by Henri Selmer from 1939. His patent changed the way modern trumpets are manufactured. He invented a way for the tubing to be attached to the valves by means of lower temperatures of heat than traditional soldering. This allows the valves to last longer, by not being warped during soldering. Thanks Henri!
