Elvio Cogno Barolo Ravera 2021
97 points Wine Spectator, Hot Wine: "Mint, eucalyptus, plum, earth, oak spice and tar notes mark this lean, sinewy red, which is compact despite starting out with an open feel, with a core of sweet, ripe fruit midpalate. Its assertive tannins require patience, while the aftertaste indicates the future potential. Best from 2028 through 2050." Our note, pre-score: From one of Barolo's greatest vineyards and as you read above, one of my go-to producers, this should be part of any 2021 Barolo collection. Also noted above: this is virtually guaranteed to get monster scores. That aside, I cannot wait to add some to my cellar and I highly recommend you do the same. 2019 vintage notes 95 points Wine Spectator, Collectible: "There’s a lot going on in this complex red, which is loaded with cherry, strawberry, earth, spice and iron flavors, revealing hints of menthol and tobacco. Harmonious, with a long, resonant finish that echoes both the fruit and savory notes. Best from 2026 through 2045."
