A very sweet depiction of a winged angel in prayer, late 16th or early 17th century ,likely from a French Baroque shrine. Cast iron with wonderful chased details, such as the drapery, hair and feathers on the wings. A lovely example of early ironwork, the angel shown delicately balanced on an arabesque, with floral motifs behind. This small item has a lot of presence, you can feel the devotion both in the crafting of it and in it's expression.   Custom mounted on a steel base.    Circa 1620.
