Magical Tree of Life
In Jewish spirituality, the Torah’s teachings are likened to a tree that is supporting us through life. This Tree of Life is a symbol of growth and positive energy. It propels us to continue learning and creating. It is also a reminder that teachings and experiences never stand on their own, but need to be understood in their context within the whole. The story: I love to paint trees because there are so many different kinds of trees and so many different ways to paint them. The original acrylic on canvas (for sale) was made at night in the holy and mystical city of Tzfat. There is a willow tree shining bright in the dark night. There is something so magical about willow trees because they make a beautiful canopy. It is almost as if the tree is hugging the ground and anything that stands beneath it. I decided to make this tree shine in the dark night because I wanted to reflect on the insights I have received from the many years as an artist that I spent working through the mystical quiet hours of the night. During those times, there were many revelations and I always found magic in those late hours.
