Sacred Portal

This painting was inspired by an earlier watercolor I created called The Journey Begins, part of my Weekly Inspiration Project. Years later, I felt called to reimagine it on canvas—this time during my Mystical Landscape course, where we explored the foundations of creating landscapes alive with spirit and depth. At the center of the painting, a luminous opening draws the eye forward. For me, this portal is an invitation inward—toward the horizon of the soul. Layer after layer, I built atmosphere and dimension until the doorway revealed itself. The poppies, scattered like sparks of red across the field, root the vision in the land of Israel, bridging the mystical and the earthly. Landscapes are my favorite thing to paint. Each time I gaze into this portal, I feel myself crossing into another realm.
