Alchemy Lace Creme and Rose Gold

The Alchemy Collection is the studio's most labor-intensive work. A meditative felting process unique to Aviva Stanoff Design. Fine wools, cashmere, silk, flax, lace, and found materials are coaxed together by hand, one element at a time, building translucency against opacity, fiber against fiber, until they become one surface. Twenty to thirty hours per piece. No two ever alike. There is a calm to working with fiber, silk, and water. Painting with material itself, not dyes. Several pieces from the collection are in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
