Along the edges, the Nawi Awapa motif (“the eye of the princess”) stands out as a traditional symbol unique to Chinchero, believed to provide protection and spiritual connection within the textile. The weaving incorporates two main pallay (patterns) that tell a deeper story. The first, Hakaku (“the condor’s beak”), also represents water as a source of life and is associated with Mama Qocha (Mother Water). The second, Loraypo, is an emblematic technique of Chinchero that functions as a kind of “textile identity,” similar to a cultural ID, as it allows the origin of the piece to be recognized. Additionally, its name comes
