The Merry-Go-Round on the Santa Monica Pier was built in 1916. When my mom, born in 1922, was a little girl, she rode the carousel every weekend. Generations of Angelenos, including ours, have ridden on that gorgeous merry-go-round. It evokes a simpler era, when riding a carousel horse was the highlight of a child’s day and only was ten cents!
