Threshed Wheat
I lived in Bangladesh for a minute when I spent a few years traveling in my younger years. In the rural villages of southern Chittagong, I spent long, balmy days with mamas and babies, in the center of their dwellings. With kids playing everywhere, and bellies full of bhaji-- I remember watching the matriarchs of the community, walking barefoot, throwing fresh dried wheat in the air; into the wind. Watching the chaff floating away on the breeze I just felt so still. The method, the system, the effectiveness of threshing wheat felt so incredibly refining and satisfying to me. The first sip of calm I'd drank in since I'd moved to that wild land. THIS Threshed Wheat is in memory of that practice and that moment. I've never taken flour for granted since.
