#C262 - 4.8cm Table Board - Kaya

This Japanese go board was shipped to Colorado for refurbishing. It has the unmistakeable sweet scent of Kaya, and the engrain confirms this with dense and wavy growth lines.This is a hagi board, made of 5 pieces of wood joined together. This type of construction helps prevent warping that may occur when a thin board is made of a single piece. The board is gently used. It was scrubbed with a plastic abrasive and denatured alcohol, sanded on 5 sides (the raised lacquer grid was kept intact), then treated with our Monkey Butter. It has a few defects, such as the wear on the surface from regular play and slightly rounded corners. The underside reveals a small original repair and a small indentation. Under the harsh glare of the sun we can see the remnant of something else on the surface (probably a water stain).
