Ping-dom
Ping-dom March 21st at 1pm For the first time in the Fargo area... it's PINGS! Ping is the nickname of Pinguicula, meaning "little greasy one" in Latin. These carnivorous plants have sticky leaves to capture small insects. In this class, we will specifically be using tropical pings, mostly from Mexico. We will be recreating their natural environment with a terracotta orchid pot. By turning this planter upside down, we will take advantage of the porous surface to tuck small plants into. These 'rocks' will be filled with a soil mix for pinguicula, a blend of Dakota sedge peat moss, quartz sand, and perlite. Then they will be put into a glass bowl to act as a water reservoir. This DIY ping rock is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking to start their carnivorous plant collection. Ticket Includes: 5 plants of at least 3 different varieties Specialty orchid pot Pinguicula mix soil Glass bowl Planting materials, live moss Other small plants like Utricularaia Graminifolia and Ficus Pum
