Manufactured from high-density, reinforced alumina ceramic core (Al2O3) backed with lightweight layered polymer composite fiber and finished in a black Cordura Nylon Covering. A foam pad is affixed to the Strike Face in order to protect against severe and repeated drops. NIJ standards require 2 drops. These plates must pass the internal 10 drop test and are inspected via X-Ray prior to environmental and ballistic testing.
