The Mattie (True Grit 2010)

  Inspired by the Hat Crafted by Baron Hats for Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross in the Coen Brothers' "True Grit" Mattie Ross' hat has great emotion impact, since it is one of the few personal effects she receives that belonged to her murdered father. She ends up wearing much of his clothing, including his hat, both out of necessity, and as a "statement" to Rooster, and the world, that her father is not to be forgotten, and more to the point, is to be avenged. Much thought was put into this hat by the great Oscar nominated designer Mary Zophies, so that indeed it would read as a reminder of Mattie's father, yet somehow "fit" with her character throughout the movie. We are therefore proud to offer the "Mattie", a hat inspired by the one we crafted, and was worn by Oscar nominated 15-year-old Hailee Steinfeld who played the pivotal character of "Mattie Ross" in the Coen Brother's remake of "True Grit".
